Network cable tester
Network cable tester is mainly used to test whether the 8-core line of the network cable is on. There are many kinds of network cable tester. The most common one is a single function network cable tester. Some are more powerful and have a more intuitive LCD display. Some are multi-functional, such as line finder and video tester, as shown in Figure 1-4. However, the methods of use are similar with minor differences. Prices are also uneven, from dozens to hundreds of yuan.
The most common network cable tester can test two kinds of crystal head, respectively is RJ45 and RJ11, RJ45 network crystal head, there are 8 needles, RJ11 telephone crystal head, the conventional refers to 4 needles, there are 2 needles, 6 needles.
2.1 Network Cable Test
Insert the two ends of the network cable into the RJ45 port at both ends of the tester, turn on the tester switch, and observe the indicator status of the tester. The two types of network cables are respectively the indicator sequence of the straight-through cable and the crossover cable. If one pin does not work or the sequence of the two pins is opposite, the network cable is faulty and needs to be remade.
2.2 Telephone Line Test
Plug the two ends of the telephone wire into RJ11 ports at both ends of the tester and turn on the tester switch. The method is the same as that of the network cable test.
Note: the ordinary network cable tester can test that the sequence of the network cable is normal, which only means that the sequence of the network cable is correct, but does not mean that the network cable can communicate. When the twisted-pair cable is used for data transmission, the permanent link is not more than 90 meters. The communication is subject to the computer test.
3. Line finder
As its name implies, a cable finder is used to find cables from a large number of cables. A cable finder generally provides the functions of finding and measuring cables, as shown in Figure 1-6. The cable finder consists of a signal transmitter and a handheld line finder. The wire finder is equipped with a variety of interfaces to search for different cables, such as RJ45, RJ11, BNC, and crocodile clips.
Take network cable search as an example, connect one end of the search line to the RJ45 port of the transmitter, switch to the "search line" position, and the search line indicator LED lights up. Turn on the power switch of the wirelink and the LED indicator is on. Touch each cable and observe the status of the wirelink indicator and buzzer. If the wirelink indicator is on or blinking (different brands have slight differences) and gives the strongest buzzer sound, the cable is the one to be searched for. The method can refer to the method of network cable tester to further determine the network cable to be searched.
The method of searching for other cables is the same as that of searching for network cables, except that different interfaces are used.
